The Internet...

  1. I found this map to be both enlightening and familiar at the same time. On one hand, each and every one of us experience human interaction on the internet and often thrive on it, yet on another level, the map presents a rather cynical view of it. The presence of the stereotypical 1950s female and male heads represent the consumption ideals that the internet embodies, since, when on it one can have and see just about anything. In another way, however, the fact that they look both guillotined and perfectly smiling is somewhat "creepy", which suggests the lack of real human interaction despite the illusion of having it.
I find that being able to convey so many levels with the use of such a simple image is a very effective means of communication that I would aspire to learn from. To further develop this map, I would be interested in seeing perhaps more insight into one of these interactions as to dig deep into exactly what it is that occurs, perhaps even studying the psychology of these interactions. As we are both interested in human psychology, perhaps looking into psychogeographic evaluations of the internet would be interesting. It is natural for us both to evaluate not just ourselves on a regular basis but also the world as a whole, with a strong desire to improve it. This will definitely be something that will be in our minds as we go further into future projects. We will look at ways of not just finding solutions to problems, but getting to the root of the problem and working from there.
